Burden Center for the Aging
The Carter Burden Center for the Aging promotes the well-being of elderly residents on the U.E.S. through a broad array of social services and volunteer programs. The Brick Church Fair supports older people who wish to remain in their own homes living independently, safely and with dignity.
Harlem Academy
Established in 2004, Harlem Academy is an independent school with merit-based admission for students through eighth grade. It prepares bright, motivated students for success and ensures economic diversity by tuition support.
Urban Outreach Center
This program provides a variety of services to those in need, including a weekly dinner program, pantry services, counseling, referrals and a clothing bank. We support a fresh fruit and vegetable component for the pantry program.
Mt. Sinai Adolescent Health
A safety net for young girls who need access to medical care, lab tests, and who don’t have health insurance and no means to pay. The Center serves yearly about 12,000 girls aged 10 to 21 from all areas of NYC at E. 94th St. An additional 5,000 are served through school-based and community health clinic.
Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter
Since its founding in 1980 they have assisted over 8,000 homeless and formerly homeless individuals with addiction disorders regain independence through programs that offer skills, meals and shelter.
New York Common Pantry
Founded in 1980 by a coalition of churches and synagogues on the eastside to reduce hunger. Today it provides over a million meals annually to individuals and families in and around numerous NYC neighborhoods.
Search and Care
Provides support services and personalized in-home attention and help to frail and isolated older adults at risk. The services offered enable the elderly in this neighborhood and in East Harlem to continue living in their own homes.
Stanley Isaacs Neighborhood Center
This neighborhood center offers numerous programs for adults and elderly. Their After School Learning Center offers educationally and culturally enriched activities and a safe haven after school for children from East Harlem and Harlem ages 5 to 11.
